Goodness heavens. This might be the most legendary boss fight in the history of all boss fights. So epic in scale, intense, suspenseful, emotional, the graphics, the soundtrack, playing with headphones I couldn’t even blink as I lost myself in this fight. If you dont have FF16 you need it now!

I just played through this part of the game today and all I can say is holy fucking shit lol. I’ve played many great games in my 25 years of gaming (31 years old), but not too many have had me jumping up from the couch yelling at the game I’m anticipation of what’s coming next. Can we talk about how much of an unbelievable fight Titan put up all the way until the very end? Like you just split the MOUNTAIN-SIZED Titan Lost in half after a long 10-minute boss fight. GG, fight’s done, it has to be over, right?

WRONG!

Because here comes the real Titan flying out of the debris, still swinging and wanting your head on a platter yesterday, not caring the slightest that you just bested his thousands of times bigger form. And even then you think this is just gonna be the victory lap where you flawlessly kick his smaller form’s ass and put him in his place… right?

WRONG AGAIN!

Because despite being the EARTH Eikon, Titan displays some of the best aerial agility ever shown to man, controlling his fall well enough to fist-fight Ifrit on equal grounds, ripping chunks of rock from the wall as makeshift projectiles, RUNNING DOWN THE WALLS to chase after you even faster, PUSHES THEM APART with his bare-hands in a feat of strength that would make Kratos jealous, and using them as a foothold to lunge at you fists first and spinning like he was using M. Bison’s Psycho Crusher from Street Fighter.

And then when Ifrit finally lands a square hit in his face, Titan’s just like “WEAK LITTLE PUNK!”, shrugs the punch off like it was nothing, and forces Ifrit to absorb aether from the mothercrystal just to get stronger arms to fight with. Remember, you had already beaten TITAN LOST as normal Ifrit, and now REGULAR TITAN forces him to empower himself even more just to stand a chance at winning.

AND EVEN THEN, Titan not only matches Ifrit’s proceeding “ORARARARARARARARA!” flurry punch exchange, but freaking WINS IT, shattering Ifrit’s empowered arm to dust, showing that he’s undisputedly the physically superior of the two, and Ifrit then just wins thanks to a lucky dodge and a critical hit to the face that he no doubt put all his remaining strength into.

Hugo may have been a villain that deserved what was coming to him, but he went down like a goddamn champ, cementing Titan’s legacy as every bit the physical powerhouse we imagined him to be.

Just finished the titan fight. OH MY GOD! What a fight! Absolutely insane scale while still giving you plenty of control to fight. While XVI may be slow at points, it’s these moments that make it worth the push through them. I bet this is was a conversation between Square Enid and Creative Unit Business III at some point:

The fact Masayoshi Soken can also switch from classical orchestration to straight up hard Devil May Cry esque rock in a heartbeat without it feeling out of place astounds me!

This boss fight is just like literally like Attack on Titan only it’s Titan versus mega Titan

Why can’t we have fights like this in western games? Why are fights in western video games rubbish? Why are westerners so conformist? I mean, in God of War they have a god who could teleport a kilometer-long snake with a single punch breaking all the laws of physics, but in their fight we don’t even see him do much. They broke some pillars about two meters long. We can’t even remotely do collateral damage like the first fight with a god in the previous game, even though this one is more powerful. For example, there is a similar scene in both fights, in the previous game where the boss is caught getting hit in the back with a tree and there is a series of cutscenes where the character activates his power for the first time, in the second game the boss when he is distracted hits with a pillar and the thing there. So I see people praise my game two fight and when you tell them I think it wasn’t a big deal they say, “I respect your opinion, it was the most spectacular thing in the world to me” as if there were no better fights in other games. It’s as if they told me: “I respect your opinion but I like to eat shit”

So many games like to throw the “next-gen” label to show how advanced they are but no game has managed to reach the level of cinematics and scale as FFXVI. This fight is a clear example why this game cannot be replicated on PS4.

Ever since I played this game.. I felt like this story should of been of Sparda, the father of Dante and vergil from the devil May Cry games.

I pictured the prequel from the games.. In medieval times during the story of it. (or earlier, don’t know exactly the time)

This boss right just FEELS like a DMC boss fight with Sparda in Demon form just bossing it up. The music just fits like older Metal, maybe something that would suit his personality. Idk.. That’s my head cannon.

I like how Soken just gave up on the whole orchestra soundtrack design just for the titan fight and you get a really really cool remix of Eden titan from FF14.

I can’t remember any FF with this much excitement in boss fights what a banger ! Basically what I imagined 25+ years ago when playing early FFs but better … damn KUPKA is a perfect vilain with a perfect boss fight !

I literally just got done with this fight 15 minutes ago, with my family watching the whole thing. I kept seeing people say on social media the last few days that Titan was their fav fight in the game and I thought it was gonna be just okay for me, but when it got to that final phase, I was like WHAT THE FUCK and my whole family was shouting out “OOOOHHHHHHHH SHIT!!!” and such.

I think the Titan fight is my most favorite of Eikon fights, not just of the OST and some FFXIV references, mainly because it was personal not just for Clive, but for Hugo too.

You can actually see snip-its of DMC is ff16, like this boss is similar to stage 18 of DMC4, when you fight the giant dude, or Garuda’s move where you snag them close to you, which is similar to Nero’s move that his arm does in DMC4 and DMC5. But my god is this game good, if this doesn’t game GOTY, it better get other awards like best sondtrack/music or best cinematic, or best bosses.

I have no idea why but the run animation for ifrit makes me laugh so fucking hard, I think maybe it’s just the way he bounces and moves so agile despite his size.

I like how there’s a running theme similar to Asura’s wrath that the big strong and not as intelligent villains waste all their energy to become this huge boss, it’s awesome lmao

Sadly the cinematic fights are the only thing this game did correctly. The customization is horribly lacking and the combat is insanely stale after 8-10 hours. It’s nothing but sponge spam. They focused too much on the action and not enough on the rpg of what makes it final fantasy. Great cinematics but overall mid gameplay for sure. If they go any further then this on the path of action combat, they might as well just toss away what little is left of the rpg elements entirely and go full Devil may cry.

I have to admit, I did NOT expect the final phase at all.

But what it does is show that even after Kupka’s immense borrowed strength is spent, he still engages in a tumbling struggle, no longer caring if he dies so long as he takes his nemesis with him.
They nailed Kupka’s all-consuming hatred of Clive perfectly.

Between the narrative story arc conclusion, the fight mechanics, and the way the music shifts and changes with the fight. This whole sequence is one of the greatest moments in video games. Bombastic badass and brutal feast for the senses.

The Virgin FF15 Titan:

– Boring design.

– Greatest achievement is punching a giant turtle (even I could do it).

– Gaia’s wrath ? More like Gaia’s lame.

– No rizz.

– Loses to a bunch of twinks.

– Not even that big, how lame.

The Chad FF16 Titan:

– Simple yet efficient design.

– Manages to stand up against Shiva and Ifrit like an absolute beast.

– Brimstone is so good that Ifrit felt the urge to copy it to be as cool.

– Maxed out his Rizz stat and loves his girlfriend like a King.

– Lost to Ifrit but managed to pushed him to his absolute limit cause he’s just that strong.

– Is an actual Titan.

When Clive summons Ifrit, it reminds me of Haseo summoning Skeith in .Hack//GU.

I love how the music shifts from classical in Titan’s first phase, to rock tracks in his second and third phases as Titan Lost, then back to classical as normal Titan but still having the choir follow the same notes as the vocals in the third phase track.

Hugo ain’t even the final boss and CBU3 still pulled still one of the most outrageously epic fights in FF history. The choir of the final phase is absolutely RIDICULOUS. Phenomenal send off for the character and the Dhalmekian arc of the game. Yoshi P and his avengers really did it.
