Even after untransforming, he still thinks himself invincible and that his usual battle sytle of fists would be enough. Unfortunately for him, this was his first and last time dealing with a swordsman with just human flesh. A swordsman with more reach with his sharp cutting sword.

Two men out for blood, two men who hated each other to the core. They gave each other just enough respect to lay their cases before one another. Then went at it like animals in an epic battle. No mercy, no pity. No heck’s given. And they didn’t even try to talk each other down. One of my favorite moments is the drums in the lead up to the fight as Kupka was priming himself. Well done!

I’ve been thinking about this for a while, and I’m pretty convinced that Hugo Kupka is based on Thanos. He’s the Dominant of an Eikon called “Titan”, which right there is a red flag, his appearance matches the MCU version of the Mad Titan if he was a human being and he’s head over heels for a woman who doesn’t really love him back while essentially being a pawn for a powerful enemy that wants to cause death on a massive scale. The conflict he excites against Clive lasts for five years, like how Thanos’ decimation over half of all life in the universe lasted in the MCU, and, as the end of this video shows, he loses BOTH of his hands, so he won’t be snapping any fingers anytime soon.

Man, Clive is a total savage. The way he delivers the lines. The voice acting is superb. He might be my favorite protagonist from any Final Fantasy ever. Outside of these epic eikon battles, the game is pretty boring. The side quests are a joke and the random encounters are too easy needing 0 strategy…just endless button mashing. Very disappointing. They designed the game with the lowest common denominator in mind and it suffers for it.
