I love the world premise and the visuals, but it looks closer to Action game genre, than to RPG. TBH combat looks just like another soulslike game 🙁 like Stranger of Paradise.
Meaning brainless fast X button smashing and stressing about dodging in time, than using tactics when party members complement each other with different archetypes.
Meaning more lonely walking through vast world, than talking with your party by campfire and witnessing their character development.

If there’s one thing I can trust the FF14 team with, it’s the HYPE moments. Even with a really outdated engine they were able to bring some of the best HYPE moments in gaming with the combination of music, story and gameplay. So I will play this game regardless if it’s turn-based or not!

I’ve been playing Final Fantasy for a long time…a really long time – since the early 90s – and honestly, I am disappointed with the direction/tone they’re taking with this entry. I will probably be skipping this one. I am just not interested in a potentially M-Rated Final Fantasy, it was one of the last few series I didn’t have to worry too much about playing in front of the kids. So much for that. This is such a far cry tonally from other entries in the series. I really don’t like the direction Square is headed with this game. Just my opinion.

So PITY 😩😩 FF doesn’t have single unified mythology like Game of Throne, Harry Potter, or Star Wars where you can explore and experience the mythmaking and worldbuilding of fantasy world. Every new FF felt like a brainwashed to me, can’t really excited anymore about the fantasy world in FFXVI, nor FFVIIR, nor FFXV, nor FFXIII, and my favorite one FFX.

Nevertheless I will play it just for the combat, which felt like DMC–which is my favorite action game.

Looks like there are two combat systems. There’s a standard one vs many combat system and a duel system which we see used for Clive vs a singular opponent and for Eikon vs Eikon. Either that or what I perceive to be a duel system are just boss fights with a cinematic camera.

I love what I’ve seen especially the summons. But there are many unknowns. The main one is how many characters will go with us? and will we control them? Or is it going to be a single character game. My first RPG was Final Fantasy 7. And what I liked most about the saga was the variety of characters. I’m worried that in the end we only manage Clive and the groups of characters are lost altogether. And in the end it’s just a Hack and slash like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta. Because Final Fantasy is more than slashing.

I’m not excited for this game anymore. They FF series is just a hack and slash genre now with some mechanics built in. Press buttons to attack until you fill up the gauge to use specials. The fights will never feel as rewarding or as challenging then the older turn based games.

from what I just saw. looks like every summons battle will be active battle not QTA.
based on the first sceene and the last word the narrator said at the last second “awaken ifrit”, looks like our MC is the ifrit incarnate it self. so I think we might be stuck with only ifrit to fight other boss characters that can change in to their summon form.

I know I’m in the minority but I love Final Fantasy and every time I see this game, nothing about it excites me at all.

I wish I was as excited as everyone else but I just can’t feel hyped for this at all.

meh it looks alright. Gameplay looks about the same as the last 3 FF games (15, 7 remake , origins). the HUD was UGLY though

And not a single RPG element.

Finally this one is a masterpiece when the huge monsters/summons are fighting for real not just the main character. Nobody could beat this game in 2023 for how it was developed.
