You can move lightning rod after placing it? Wow.
Bahamut’s Wings plus satellite and wisp is crazy effective.
Why can’t I use giga flare on Shiva with diamond dust
I’m too addicted to phoenix shift to swap it. It just makes clearing ads trivial
My build leading up to Odin
Ifrit: ignition and rebirth: round up groups then burn them all
Titan – upheaval and earthquake: also love his blocking abilities that recharge my limit bar
Shiva – Mesmer and diamond dust but may swap back to bahamut for lightning rod and giga flare combo
Wtf I just started final fantasy mode on xbox I did not know you can use deadly embrace multiple times in the air damn it’s true what they say you learn something new everyday
Is it just me every YouTuber cannot pronounce Chocobo right and they all have a different way to say it LMFAO it’s easy choco is like cocoa and but with ch sound then add a bow😂😂
First time player of this game. Yeah I know super late to the party.
Here is my build. Granted I have not reached Odin yet.
Garuda: Impulse/Will of the Wisps
Titan: Windup/Ignition
Shiva: Diamond Dust/Gigaflare
Don’t know if this the most optimal I have manged to get about eighty to a hundred thousand points of damage in some cases. Don’t know what I will do when I get Odin but so far this has been working very well. One variation is the third Eikon could be changed to Bahamut for Megaflare.
I would like to see somebody do an updated video featuring Leviathan and Altima
The best build is this when you can master abilities:
Odin with Zansetsuken and lightning Rod.
Garuda with Gouge and Will-o-the-whisp
Bahumut with Gigaflare and Diamond dust
Start every battle with will-o-the-whisp, change to Bahumut and turn on Wings of Light. Master dodging all enemy attacks and trigger level 4 megaflare. Immediately release diamond dust (assuming you’re close to the enemy), enemy should be semi-staggered (if not, hit it a few times or let megaflare do its thing), hit deadly embrace to do deadly take down, gouge will take them down to almost staggered, turn on will-o-the-whisp again, once staggered, immediately turn on limit break and hit Gigaflare, switch to Oden and turn on arms of darkness, drop lightning Rod, and do dancing steel.
While dancing steel is hitting, hold your attack button to prep Zansetsuken. Once Clive’s animation finishes the second sword swing at the end of dancing steel, release and tap attack to trigger Zansetsuken. You should still have a bit of stagger left, turn on gouge or will-o-the-whisp and hit diamond dust once they are out of stagger to retrigger semi-stagger.
This is the bets build I’ve made and you should try it out. I’ve also seen builds where people can do 3 Zansetsukens in one rotation but I haven’t gone that crazy yet. Have fun!
Mine is just phoenix, garuda and then lighting guy ( i forgot his name) i do pheonix uppercut thing, then switch garuda do the knife ching chang thing to stagger, then i go back to pheonix and do fire hell thing or whatever and then it stagger then i do lighting blast from the heavens (i also forgot the name) then i other lighting shockwave, then switch to hell transformation flame swrod thing and boom boom boom then i do tornado from garuda, and hope the other abilities by that time have regenerated (which they prolly havent) then repeat. The reasons this build is amazing (trash?) Is because its mid game and im no where near finishing it.
at 8:38 for instance, why is your skill designated for R1 and R2? did you remap the controller?
I am at Drake’s Breathe, playing in NG+ FF Mode. I have tried 35 times to beat the Boss, but though I get its bar close to defeating it, I die. I’ve tried many builds. Could you recommend a build to defeat this boss???? The boss looks like a ball with a ton of tentacles, and during the fight, more single ones that look like fingers pop up too. Clive makes a joke saying, “Don’t these things have roots?”
An easy farming for ability points is the start of “The Free Cities of Kanver”. Complete the first three waves of enemies, then open the map and jump to any other area. Then jump back to Kanver, rinse and repeat. This works much much faster if the have the “Wages of Warcraft” accessory equipped. Do this for an hour or two and you’ll have more than enough to max out all the abilities. Enjoy
Honestly this final fantasy game is better than 15! Love the combat and open world
Shiva rime plus lightning rod is extremely good passive, and Shiva abilities have the lowest cool down for still good effects, and since cold snap is a must feat to have, it’s relatively cheap to have her abilities. I don’t like having two feats that need a charge, so I would honestly pick *either* Odin or Bahamut, but tbh I’d pick Odin based on the fact that mega flare isn’t always worth the work it takes to build it (but it’s definitely the most fun feat to use IMO). Windup is a most on nearly every build. Multi-hit, excellent damage, low recharge time
So I’m kinda new to ff16 and I’m trying to figure out how you mix up theyre abilities
Love these builds, they seem to be the only ones that give Titan the respect it deserves. I would love to see your Leviathan and Ultima builds (and if you keep Titan in 🙂 )
What are you even maxing with your “current build”…? That build is cheap, lacks stronger available skills, and you’re selecting garuda and NOT using aerial blast in a STAGGER build…? And using weak ass titan abilities over judgment bolt?
I’d assume you didn’t have the ability points for a better build, but then I see you’ve got limit break maxed.
I don’t get it.
Will you make an updated version of this video once the Rising Tide DLC comes out?
My favorite was shivas perfect dodge freeze then go into odens dancing steel then rip slip out into charged attack level5 man that does alot of damage for a free combo and if you have level 5 already up i believe you can get 2 in one perfect dodge freeze. Shiva, odin, phoenix
8:06 nice
Is there a good build that uses at least one ability from every eikon? I like the idea of one that feels like the final boss moment when all eikons are used against ultima.
How do I do this type of dodge? 5:30
This is a bit late but i could easily create any set i wanted by respecing after i got odin on my first game. All build were possible before lv40.
I like using, Phoenix with Ignition and Gigaflare, Garuda with Wicked Wheel and Aerial Blast, and Shiva with Diamond Dust and Judgement Bolt. Gameplay loop- Start with D. Dust, that will knock the will bar to half, or close to, follow with W. Wheel, A. Blast or a few regular attacks to deplete stagger bar to half, D. Embrace to pull them down, if I didn’t use W. Wheel or A. Blast before pulling them down, ill use them now to deplete stagger bar the rest of the way. While A. Blast is going, use C. Snap and take pot shots to keep them in place until staggered, once staggered, use limit break, then Ignition, followed by G. Flare, then finish with J. Bolt. Repeat process using whatever is available, You can use C. Snap to keep enemy frozen until skills return. It’s not the hardest hitting combo out there, but I can keep the enemy staggered for the majority of a fight. Big boss fights are a little more strategic, but general enemies take usually 2 loops or less to kill. I’ve used this strategy to take out the toughest hunts and boss fights
I really wish I’d known about mixing and matching mastered abilities before finishing my first playthrough 😅
My build for most of my game
Shiva – impulse, Diamond dust
Titan – will of the whisps, rhine
Garuda – rising flame, lighting bolt
Mostly use Garuda for pulling enemies down and pulling enemies back when I hit them away, Titan for titanic block on bosses, shiva cold snap for mobs and Diamond dust for mobs and quick stagger
I pretty much went fully into odins stuff became it was dope as fuck. I took will o wikes the bahmut things that fly around and the lightning rod. I dont know if it was “good” but god DAMN was it fun.
I can’t Play Odin, w/o stacking 2 abilities w/ it… The single attacks between cooldowns are just too weak…
No Pheonix Shift? damn… I know it’s not really crucial to a Min/Max build… but they should have just made that a default ability imo…
Combo three ability rotation?
You need to add odin 🙂
I don’t like titan tbh
Is it me or do they not really reward exploration.
I really went through 90% of the game not realizing you could do/upgrade any of this. Got to Barnabas and just gave up bc I couldn’t kill him. Maybe I should go back now…
I wanna try the build where I get to play the game on pc
Which accessories should I use?
I just recently got the plat, I just ran phoenix, Odin, and garuda, with rebirth, diamond dust, mega flare, dancing swords, judgement bolt, and whatever the Titan ult is. All ults, all the time. Blew everything up had tons of fun. I’m sure there’s more efficient builds, but just going crazy with ults was fun. Clive feels like a monster.
My final line up was fire with ignition and flame of rebirth light with the tornado and and light 4 ball attack and dark with dancing steel and dust
Odin: Dance of Steel, Judgement Bolt
Garuda: Lightning Rod, Will-o’-the-Wykes
Shiva: Diamond Dust, Giga Flare
is this a possible build in the first playthrough?
I dont understand these “build” guides. This game isnt that difficult to need builds. Just like God of War Rag, all these videos about build guides make no sense.
Normal enemies are push overs and you mostly just skip them. Bosses arent much tougher either to require a “build”.
You could spend a couple of mins or an hour in Kanver (just the first 2 group lf enemies) before clearing the mission to gain a couple of thousand AP. It will be more than enough to max all regular skills ans upgrade the more expensive ones. If you really like to grind do this for 1 to 2 hours and max everything. You shouldnt need any points for the rest of the game.
ramuhs lightning totem and will o wysps you can literally set the controller down in the final chunk of boss battles and they will kill themselves
This game was a super easy plat, not difficult at all. Even though the story starts great, and there are great parts in the mid game story, all the side quests beside the chocobo suck. The end of the story fights are cool, but it feels too predictable without saying any spoilers. Also should be illegal to have a FF game with no mini games. I found myself getting so bored with the game too many times, it’s basically just an interactive movie. The best part of the game besides the graphics are the hunts and the leveling system almost makes you feel like you aren’t playing a FF game, i understand you can call a game an RPG just by having a character with a developing story, but you have zero say in everything. It’s not what you would call an RPG in the traditional sense, its more of an action game than anything else. The stores are useless, and pretty much the blacksmith is just linear and boring. Im also not a fan of chapters, it worked in 10 but not here, open world is always better. Overall I’m just disappointed in this game. Graphics (10, gorgeous), story (8, had more potential), gameplay (4, too easy), leveling system (2, boring), side quests (0, pointless), extras (0, non existent). The game is sadly a 4.5/10. I had so much expectations, and was let down at every corner, only to see a glimer of something that was potentially more, only to be let down again. If we are be real, the game looks gorgeous, and that’s it, it’s one of the most shallow FF games ever made. I would place this behind almost all FF games except 13. FF15 seems like it was light years ahead of this game even though it’s 7 years older and was cut short for time. Never going to pick this game up again, it felt like a chore just to get the plat, where usually it’s more fun.
I’m currently at The Free Cities of Kanver and farming the heck out of it for EXP and AP before proceeding further so as to maximise the farming there. Haven’t gotten Shiva as yet so using the Build 1 Variation build 6:15 . It’s working out quite nicely so far. When I do get Shiva I intend to use preferred Build 1. Thanks for sharing this wonderful build and variations. Cheers. Liked and Subscribed.
My current loadout is
Bahamut – Raging Fists, Will O The Wykes
Odin – Dancing Steel, upheaval
Shiva – Diamond Dust, Giga Glare
How do you get that flaming slow mo zooming precision dodge animation ? My clive doesn’t do that when i get one
When making builds I like to use only 1 abilty for smaller enemies (wicked wheel of piledriver mostly) since with deadly embrace or pheonix shift most small mobs dont pose much of a challange.
The rest of my abilities are for big stagger damage (diamond dust, dancing steel, gigaflare and lightning rod) or utility (rift slip and will o wykes)
The main thing is cold snap and zantetsuken tho. These feats are too good
Rate my build:
1. Cold snap, Heatwave, Diamond dust
2. Arms of Darkness, Raging fist, Dancing steel
3. Wings of light, Lightning rod, Gigaflare
Start with cold snap into permafrost then dancing steel + maybe a few arms of Darkness hits to charge up Zantetsuken to level 5.
Use heatwave vs enemy ranged attacks and raging fists vs enemy melee attacks to bring down the will bar.
Diamond dust can also be used here.
Once enemy is staggered use lightning rod, Diamond dust, Gigaflare and Zantetsuken to deal damage.. I consistently get above 110,000 stagger damage at level 47
If the enemy lives, use wings of light till all abilities recharge n build up that megaflare..
Repeat all when abilities are recharged
Both heatwave and raging fists are replaceable..
Diamond dust to lower stagger bar, once staggered cold snap ad infinitum and reuse refreshed Diamond dust. Holding any abilities is not optimal for dps.
As much as i enjoy building big stagger dmg, i might finish the game with coolest moves with lower dmg bcs the combat is just so fun to look at.
Late but don’t care, comments help the algo, so, again with the meticulous attention to detail and cutting of fat, straight to the point…… another f**king banger. And I don’t even agree on the first build being best and this is STILL a 10/10 lmfao. Peace bro
Am I the only one who hasn’t been able to drop Phoenix because of the convenience of Phoenix Shift? Especially when I’m using the Berserker Ring which often leaves Clive out of range for a follow-up after a dodge, and doesn’t have the distance-closing counter you can do when not using the ring.
Also I still use Ignition to quickly dispatch groups of enemies (not that basic enemies are ever really a threat in this game). It’s a terrible ability for bosses given you can’t cancel it, and can get hit during it. Time to switch up the build.
See the way i got around this was by maxing out my ap in my first playthrough
I also wanna add… if you spend a little time getting a better understanding of the battle mechanics. It will open up a ton more build options!!
I JUST got to Ash in my NG+ Final Fantasy mode playthrough. For the WHOLE run, I’ve been rocking Shiva (Will-o’-the-Wykes and Judgment Bolt), Bahamut (Impulse and Gigaflare), and Odin (Dancing Steel and Diamond Dust). I originally ran Lightning Rod instead of Judgment Bolt, but it seemed just so slow without a ton of DPS for it justify itself. HOWEVER, as much as I LOVE Megaflare it is also REALLY slow; I’m thinking of swapping Bahamut for Garuda, for that added height and mobility.
You should put rift slip in
This lady did a full 2.3 million stagger damage.
How do you do that cinematic precition dodge animation? Mine is just clive dodging a little cooler and slowing down time for a second
My build before getting Odin:
-Titan: Will of the Wisps / Lightning Rod (Defense & Stagger)
-Garuda: Raging Fists / Heatwave (Counters)
-Bahamut: Windup / Gigaflare (Heavy Hitters)
After getting Odin:
Shiva: Rift Slip / Diamond Dust (Cold Snap to freeze Stagger)
Odin: Lightning Rod / Dancing Steel (Pull off 2-3 Zantetsuken on Staggered Bosses)
Bahamut: Flames of Rebirth / Gigaflare (Long animation for Cooldowns)
If you’re going with Odin build I think it’s super important to have rift slip because that also freezes time (and the stagger bar). Plus, the rift slip time freeze lasts about the same time as the Dancing Steel charge up animation basically nullifying whatever time is potentially lost. Plus, doing it with cold snap also extends the stagger pause time. There’s videos showing this in Youtube that demonstrates this as well.
Gungnir looks cool but its absolutely useless unless you’re using Will of the Wikes with it since you’re still vulnerable and time still keeps going during the entire animation. It also builds Zan meter way more slowly compared to Dancing Steel.
I’m sorry, but deadly embrace is borderline useless and the people who think it’s top level shit are insane. Top tier (strictly talking the eikonic feat, not their cooldowns) is either shiva or odin. Everything else is substantially lesser. I favor bahamut just because I like prepping it right before stagger (not even going to pretend that it’s actually good, I just like seeing big numbers). Ramuh is almost useless, phoenix and titan are redundant to your core abilities, garuda is pretty much only useful for slightly speeding up killing a regular enemy, but you should be using zantetsuken to clear out large regular enemy waves anyway.
Also, will of the wykes is cheap (as in low ap cost) and broken. It should be in every build, especially any rocking dancing steel.
Where’s the spreadsheet link?
I don’t even think you can call what you’re able to do in XVI a build per se. When I think of build I’m thinking stat allocation, equipment, then maybe what moves you are allowed to equip. Equipment is basically pointless since there is no variety at all, simply the largest numbers you can get from msq equipment. Then the other choice is the eikon abilities. There just isn’t enough room to build much of anything, you’re just picking which moves you like the best and when that’s all the choice you have I don’t think that’s a build, just optimization. When I think build I think of a play style too, but here you play the exact same outside of those Eikon abilities.
My current combo for stagger combo:
Build:
Phoenix: Diamond Dust / Lightning Rod
Odin: Rift Slip / Dancing Steel
Bahamut: Judgement Bolt / Gigaflare
Charge a Lv 5 Zan
Order once staggered:
– Phoenix Shift to be right in front,
– Diamond Dust to get the 1.5,
Lightning Rod (Switch to Odin while animation is going on and hold Attack).
– When the Rod is placed use your left hand to press Circle to switch to Gungnir, release LV5 Zan.
– Once the last hit is done, Rift Slip and Dancing Steel.
(Due to the Dance hitting the Rod as well, you get a guaranteed LV5 Zan w/o needing any other equipment.)
– Rift Slip out after getting LV5 Zan and hold onto attack.
Release second Zan (switch to Bahamut while it is going on.)
– Gigaflare once end of Zan.
– End with Judgement Bolt.
At level 45 equipped with the weapon prior to Ultima Weapon, that is upwards of 200k damage.
Most mobs below mark rank S Class should fall in a single stagger
I just learned the most broken ability in the game is cold snap. When you stagger an enemy, if you cold snap them their stagger bar stays paused. You can basically infinitely cold snap them into supers as they regenerate. You can delete enemies using this once they’ve been staggered.
My build till plat is
Shiva: raging fist, diamond dust
Odin: dancing of steel, flame of rebirth
Bahamut: lighting rod, gigaflare
What build would you do if AP wasn’t a limiting factor? Or is there a chance you will do a NG+ build video?
Love the videos and builds
Appreciate the shoutout boss!
Always fun getting into the numbers on this kind of stuff.
Great vid and great little berserker ring transitions! I liked that.
Where is the spread sheet. I can’t see it
I think the only set Final Fantasy mode Eikon is Odin since Zantetsuken is just a must for all smaller trashmobs if you don’t want to take forever to kill them.
And I just can’t really part with the phoenix shift since it’s just so nice to get around the field. And yes you can use lunge for it bit it isn’t as far as the shift. And shift is great to enable mortal blows.
It’s just whenever I get rid of phoenix I miss it 😀
I love how Garuda and titans abilities pair. My guilty pleasure is using either her claw, or wicked wheel if it’s not on cool-down right into titans upheaval as it has auto charge up when in the air. The combo does great stagger and is fast to activate follow it up with any quick ability on the ground like rising flame or windup nice combo. I’ve leaned away for wil-o-wykes as it make me just spam stuff and not learn to dodge/move around the damage immunity is a little strong
My current one that ive been used to for a bit is
Odin Dancing Steel/Lightning Rod
Shiva Diamond Dust/Impulse
Garuda WotW/Heatwave
Lightning Rod plus Dancing Steel is nuts since every hit Dancing Steel lands after you use Lightning Rod adds to the Zantetsuken gauge. Add the accessory that gives you a +25% to Dancing Steel and you can easily get 2 level 5 Zantetsuken off in one stagger
The combo of WotW/lightning rod and impulse melts the stagger bar. Lightning rod i usually pop right before the stagger bar fully fills to help with dancing steel
Then once you get the full bar you pop diamond dust, lv5 Zantetsuken, dancing steel then another lv5 Zantetsuken and the health bars melt
Nice one ArKTix. I clocked level 100 yesterday, but this video is still a fun watch. My chief source of WILL damage comes from Bahamut’s ability impulse. Everything else in my loadout is geared towards inflicting loads of damage. DiamondDust (multiplier), Judgement Bolt, GigaFlare, Odin, Windup, rinse, repeat.
right now my eikon list is up to bahamut. i have Phoenix + WoW, lightning rod, Garuda + gouge, wicked wheel, Titan + windup, gigaflare. cant wait to get Bahamut so I can expand more and finally get my hands on Zantetsuken 😀
I use Phoenix/Shiva/X mostly. I have variations upon variations for every other one of the 5 that I could slot in with the two of them but it I mostly still to that format of loadout. I used Phoenix/Shiva/Garuda by the end of the game, but my best burst (229k) has been with Phoenix/Shiva/Odin. It depends on what you want to focus on more really, having more variety or having a super powerful stagger burst.
Endgame loadout:
Phoenix:
Windup/Thunderstorm
Shiva:
Impulse/Diamond Dust
Garuda:
Judgment Bolt/Gigaflare
My “Vergil” build, as I call it for FF Mode is (I’m super early and only have NG stuff so this is doable before the end of the first playthrough):
Phoenix:
Lightning Rod/Satellite
Shiva:
Rift Slip/Diamond Dust
Odin:
Dancing Steel/Gigaflare
Bro plz make a horizon vid bro I beg you I ve been waiting
The second build is great but if you use lighting rod plus dancing steel you can get two level 5 zants in a single rotation because the lightning rod counts as a second hit, plus rift slip is incredibly useful for elongating the stager window as if your timing is right you can slow down time giving you more time to do more damage but otherwise good builds overall.
