Clive has no more experience than Cloud in combat. Cloud has faced Sephirot who is a much stronger enemy than any he had faced during his life, not to mention that Cloud defeated the “Weapons”. And to a version of Bahamut in one fell swoop. We already know Clive maximum power, but not Cloud.

The first time one of these videos popped I Instantly said Cloud… I later stopped playing rebirth for FF16 and realized Clive is not someone to be messed with lol. FF16 has quickly become one of my favorites in the series.

One of those was by sheer luck (a much weaker Seph was already beaten down by Zack quite a bit), one was with the whole party at his side (I don’t count the fight within his consciousness), and the other was a 1v1 where he nearly dies, but he does win the fight (Advent Children, which is confirmed canon).
Based on feats of strength in 1v1s against their strongest enemies, Cloud wins this. But similar to how death battle determines outcomes, there could be many scenarios where Clive pulls out the win, too. I just see Cloud winning the majority of their battles.

Youve got Torgal, a wolf that has an eikon (don’t remember which), Jill who has Shiva, and if we want to add the deceased then we have Cid and Joshua which puts Ramuh and Phoenix on the table, and I forgot who has Bahamut. Cloud’s group may have an advantage in numbers, but that doesn’t help with the insane power gap between the two groups. Heres a lil something to put into perspective for all the people who think cloud stands a chance:
So cloud has these summons, right? He uses materia to summon em, and then they fight alongside him, using their super strong abilities. Clive can use these powers at will. He effectively absorbs the powers of these summons in ff16 and can use abilites such as megaflare and gigaflare—some of the most powerful magic spells in the final fantasy universe—AT WILL. And dont forget that clive can literally TRANSFORM into one of these summons that cloud uses also AT WILL! And guys, im not biased. I played both games and loved em!

Zack defeated Minerva and by the end of ff7 Cloud has surpassed Zack and got even more powerful in AC. Doesn’t that mean he is able to beat gods as well. Moreover in remake triology, it is implied Sephiroth might become god of all timelines and I’m pretty sure Cloud will still somehow beat him. So I’ll give it to Cloud.

Try to use your brain and actually think about it… because the answer is no, and Clive I think pretty easily can Handle Noctis, Clive is top 3 in FF and Cloud just is not because he’s not built broken, he’s broken in his own story but he doesn’t have anything crazy about him that makes all powerful. Cloud and Zach are damn near the same guy in terms of strength the only issue is that Zach died. If he hadn’t they both have Sephiroths cells in them, so what’s the difference? None, so if you don’t think Zach can beat Clive too idk how your coming to this conclusion

Consider the age gap.. only reason Clive would win is pretty much due to being a summon and experience, however I believe Cloud in later years would be an equal to Clive.. (say what you want .. you wont change my mind.. ) Cloud is very young compared to Clive , however in terms of strength he is slowly unlocking his power more and more . So forgive me but ima stick with Cloud.

This is a toughie. Clive’s powers are very strong, but similar to the ones Cloud has with his summons. Cloud also has way better spells. That said, Knights of the Round would likely end the fight before it began. I love 16 and Clive, but I just don’t see him winning. I grew up on 7 though so I am bias for sure lol.

The Cloud downplay is crazy. I don’t care how cool FFXVI’s visuals are, Clive’s showings aren’t nearly as impressive as Cloud’s. The Eikons aren’t even at the same level as the standard FF7 summons, let alone Cloud. Considering this is Rebirth Cloud, he runs through the entirety of FFXVI.

The thing is a OG FF7 cloud had “Knights of the Round”, game breaking materia combinations. Limit Break + Mime, loads of enemy skills.
Is 1 summon of Cloud equal to the power of an Eikon? If so Clive would be fighting a load of Eikons to even get to Cloud.
Its hard to define who would win without explanating the parameters of there own worlds power levels.
Sure since Clive can transform into Ifrit he would seem like the obvious winner, but Cloud could just summon his own Ifrit.
This reminds me of the “Superman Vs Goku” thing all over again.
In reality you could argue for and against either case, its just they arent in each others universes so its impossible to say.

I agree. I find Clive to be the better protagonist, not just because of his power, but also because of his personality. However, a proper comparison will be possible after FFVII Remake part 3 comes out and we see how Cloud grows in this new version.

Cloud isn’t really that strong, ff7 is heavily balanced with each character compared to the newer final fantasy like 15 and 16 focusing more on the protagonists

Clive was a slave soldier for 13 years. My boy lives and breathes battle. Plus he was groomed to be the strongest soldier in his kingdom by the time he was 16. Add in his ability to turn into a fucking god of destruction and you’d be hard pressed to find any ff protagonist who could stand against him. Have you seen Cloud’s speed at the end of FF7 Remake? He literally vanishes on the spot towards Sephiroth. In Advent Children he lifts Barrett up by the cheek. Thanks to Jenova cells, his stats are on another level.

No offense to Cloud, but Clive would definitely win. They’re just on different power scales. It’s not even close unless Clive doesn’t use his Eikon powers.

Clive is the strongest FF protagonist to date. FF16 summons are used as the powers to move nations. FF7 summons arent as destructive or remotely powerful. Look at the sheer size of these beasts. You think one avalanche platoon could defeat them? Titan would trample midgar is sheer seconds. FF7 100% my fave but thr power scaling is bonkers. FF16 is ridiculous.

Cloud fight weapons before. So the Eikon level opponents would be feasible for Cloud to handle. While Clive will have difficult time fight the Eikon with his human form and equally match with his Eikon form. So, I think Cloud end game and Clive mid-game could be equally challenging for both side.

For Clive end-game, I don’t even know what he capable of. We saw he has all Eikon power but that alone can’t defeat Cloud. But we also saw him use phenix power try to bring his brother back to life(I don’t know if he success? If he did, it mean he can control Death itself). We saw him remove ability to use magic from people in his world. I don’t think Cloud could handle that form. Not alone. But if he have Aerith to use lifestream power to back him up, maybe that could be interesting fight but it’s far beyond our imagination about how the fight will be.
