YYYYESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheering in my chair rn!!! lol

This is my all time favorite boss fight experience. The scale, the cinematics and the soundtracks were absolutely insane to experience for the first time! If you ever have room for another FF game to play, highlyyyy recommend XVI. I think you’d enjoy it. There’s SO MANY amazing soundtracks from this game that deserve to be in your requests.

Stoked to see you check it out!! Thanks Jesse!!

My favorite boss fight is still Bahamut, but this was a very close second.

It actually drags on a little too long IMO, but there’s no denying it is WILD

    • @Zephhi
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

I personally believe FFXVI falls off story-wise around the last 20-30% of the game, but this is the absolute peak and hell, one of the hypest boss fights I’ve experienced in a game ever. It’s not even difficult (neither is the whole game), but the spectacle is so amazing

So the first and second set of lyrics is koji and the 3rd and 4th set is actually soken. Super cool. They have so much fun

4:55 Lol nah. Eikonoklasm is the one that stands out the most.

As a FF and DMC fan I was in SSS heaven.

    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

XVI is absolutely insane. The fights as a first time experience, you never know when they’re gonna end, and for Titan, there’s a separate 1v1 that’s 2 phases before this 3 phase fight (technically 4 if you wanna count the transition where you have to run a gauntlet first to get to him where Heart of Stone begins). The fact this fight keeps going and going and going, with new phases and tracks playing floored me and left me with a grin on my face. The rest of the big boss fights going forward were like that too, minus one which shocked me, and I also loved.

    • @ItsSauIGoodman
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The Titan theme is probably the worst in the game, not sure why people love it so much. Its pretty cool to hear it in the actual boss fight but hearing it after the fact is kind of just….meh. Its not catchy at all or memorable for me.

    • @SeraphVariel
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

There is one thing that I’d like to note about Titan Lost (The song), the second, fourth etc loop has altered vocals which aren’t heard in the video you chose to listen from. The music of the fight also changes with the phases, so for the full experience I definitely recommend watching the actual fight’s video, though it does go on for 30 minutes lol.

    • @lordsceptile6181
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Titan Lost is genuinely a one of, if not the greatest boss fights in gaming history. It’s a 30 minute long war against Titan that never loses steam and plays 4 different songs (the one you didn’t react to is the generic Eikon theme that plays during the first phase of them all).

I’d love you to give Histoire – The Holy Empire of Sanbreque a listen, Jesse. Also from 16 and so haunting; I had ear worm of it for days after finding the track in game. https://youtu.be/CroyD1kH3AM?si=7oj70CtEZLsP8qOX 16’s music is so good and I’d be curious to know if you think this fits the 16 mould or differs as these Titan tracks did (though the one I’m linking sounds NOTHING like the Titan track 😊

    • @onewingedgamer96
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

IMO FFXVI’s story was better than than FF7 hot take I know I just think that the characters and villains are better written. The Dynamic between Clive and was amazing, I also like Hugo Kupka’s and Barnabas Thamr’s Character as well as Ultima.

    • @Cenvere
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

There is an earworm from FF7 Rebirth that is in my head as of late. I think its called Let’s Go, Mt. Corel. Really came out of nowhere.

The rhythm of Titan Lost is hidden in the music for the Eden Titan Ex fight.

    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Finally!! I waited for this one! FF16 has over 200 tracks and around 30-35 of them really stand out and fit the world and story well! Some of them really have a whole different vibe than what you would expect. My favorites are (in random order):
    – Bow
    – Hide, Hideaway
    – Lovely, Dark, and Deep – The Greatwood
    – Our Terms
    – ‘Neath the Pall
    – Do or Die (first track in this video)
    – Titan Lost (second track in this video)
    – Heart of Stone (third track in this video)
    – Forevermore – The Grand Duchy of Rosaria
    – Into the Mire – Stillwind
    – A Far Cry from Heaven
    – No Risk, No Reward (you already heard that one)
    – O’er Shifting Sands Lie – The Republic of Dhalmekia
    – Where It All Began – The Apodytery
    – Hymn of the Penitent
    – All As One (my favorite, because it’s part the finale and the text really fits what you experienced in the story)
    – Press On
    – Find the Flame (you already heard that one)
    – Heavensbound – Reverie
    – A Mother’s Madness
    – My Star
    – Away (you already heard that one)
    – In the Light of the Mothercrystal
    – Beyond the Heavens
    – Ascension (you already heard that one)
    – The Battle of Belenus Tor
    – Will of the Goddess
    – Histoire – The Holy Empire of Sanbreque
    – To Sail Forbidden Seas (you already heard that one)
    – Catacecaumene
    – In Ashen Grip
    – Eikonoklasm (also one oy my top favorites, this is from the first DLC against Omega)

    • @Kepunen
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

That heavy compressed sound is sound of Soken. Reminds me of that one Metallica album named Death Magnetic.

    • @SlvrStryker
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

“Is this The Primals?” *_THIS._* You cannot tell me that Soken didn’t go to his music team and go, “Let’s just make a couple songs for the players to jam to, just for this fight.”

    • @ilakya
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

FF16 musics basically carry the game. Not like any other things are bad. But stories hit hard with these musics. Battle feels intense with these musics. The most memorable moments of the game has the amazing tracks pairs with it. Actually, any amazing speech following with music intensifies, those are always many of the best part of FF16.

    • @felipebisi4145
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Well a pity the XVI is pure fireworks

Most of the Summon/Eikon fights are scripted and full of quick time events

Is it pretty to watch ? Yes
Are the battles insteresting ? Not really, it is a very mind numbing experience.

    • @bortmode
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Fun thing, the verse melody of Titan Lost/Heart of Stone is the same as the guitar solo from the 4th part of the FF14 Titan theme.

    • @crazypizzadiamond
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Hey Jesse! Just so you know, one of these songs are based of Titan from FF14, specially the one called “Landslide” from Eden Raid scene.

    • @meltedfudge
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Sadly a lot of FFXIV music uploads are weirdly compressed and get quieter and louder for some reason. By now there are official uploads though.

    • @Carsu12
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

I really love FF16 sountrack, but I really wished there was more electronic sound in it. Other than Titan series, iirc only 2 other themes go out of the mold (both of them used for one boss, Typhon). It’s good that most of the sound fits the cinematic orchestral style for consistency, but I reaaaly like the contrast of EDM quality being implemented in traditional medieval fantasy setting

    • @bobbilly9272
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

You said the cinematics were insane but this entire video is actually the real fight with no hud, it has QuickTime events during it all

    • @gbtygfvyg
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

It is funny that you say Dante vs Vergil because Hugo Kupka (the dude that becomes Titan) has been a massive pain in your ass for most of the game and this entire 30+ minute boss sequence was the boiling point where you finally throw hands with him in full. I wasn’t expecting the songs and I was impressed lmao.

    • @grimms1916
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The key change in heart of stone goes so insanely hard, and due to how ff16’s combat works, almost always comes during the final minutes of the final phase of this fight (which is like, 30+ minutes long by the way). Having the music affirm how throughly the tables have turned in your favor in that moment was one of the greatest things Ive experienced in a game, ever.

    • @mattp994
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

“Cool visuals… I’m just picturing a fight while listening to this”
Dude this IS the fight, this is all gameplay. The game has it’s shortcomings but its boss battles blow everything else out of the water.

    • @SkelotonSid
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

I only bought XVI for this fight, my computer cant even handle the game at the moment.

    • @striderm
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Fun little fact about the DMC thing that’s kinda neat about the Japanese version. So normally the big form of the Titan in the game is called Titan Lost. In the Japanese version, they call it Devil Titan.

    • @lumivalkea
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The Titan tracks were made for the FFXIV crowd. Soken’s brief for the FFXVI soundtrack was “orchestral” but he felt that it wouldn’t fit Titan so he just made these tracks and didn’t tell anyone until it went into playtesting and they were approved.

This is the Titan eikon fight where you control the eikon Ifrit and fight another eikon. Do Or Die plays during Ifrit’s mad Asura’s Wrath-esque dash to reach Titan that’s gone gigantic. Titan Lost kicks in when you reach Titan and the fight starts properly. The version you had in this video was only the first half, the second half has Soken taking over the microphone and that’s my favorite part of the song (both Do Or Die and Titan Lost have Koji Fox vocals). Heart of Stone is the victory lap track when you’ve already beat the gigantic Titan but he just refuses to die and Ifrit and Titan are falling through the empty husk of the giant while duking it out.

If you want to see the gameplay GMG_Hippie13 channel has pretty good videos that showcase the music and the fight.

    • @crapcase3985
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

I’m so sad that heart of stone, the 3rd and final phase, doesn’t get more reactions since it’s my favourite part of the fight and ost.

    • @Axaul
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

People describe Nobuo Uematsu as the John Williams of VG music. For me Soken is Michael Giacchino to Uematsu’s John Williams

    • @Winky813
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Lmao that Devil May Cry comment
The battle designer of dmc5 worked on FF16 as their combat designer, so you’re not too far off

    • @FlappySeal
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The usual frustration that the source video credits Soken broadly. Yoshitaka Suzuki arranged the “Heart of Stone” part, his orchestral stuff in XIV, XVI, VIIREMAKE, VIIREBIRTH, XIII-2, Stranger of Paradise, etc etc. He’s an absolute beast when it comes to the stuff he does for the FF series and so so underrated.

    • @aeolussvichi7680
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The combat director from Dmc was very involved in development of 16 👍

    • @TarundiMC
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Soken was actually asked to stick to full on orchestral for FF16 due to the medieval setting, but he put this together anyway and Yoshi-P was like, okay, you know what? This works, let’s keep it!

    • @yamatosama6028
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Hoooooly crap! I literally just finished this battle minutes ago! It was a bit of a whiplash at the beginning but after the running section I loved it!

    • @Kytian
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Bruh this boss fight was so damn epic with the visuals and sound. I’ll probably remember it for the rest of my days.

    • @Varizen87
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The DMC battle director was hired by CB3 to work in 16.

It’s important you did note it sounds like Titan’s 14 theme. Something Soken wants to establish is that certain recurring characters in the FF series have recurring themes. Until Soken, only Chocobos and Gilgamesh had recurring themes. With 16, Garuda, Titan, and Omega all revisit their ff14 themes, as does Leviathan to a lesser degree. But while the themes are different they have a leitmotif or sound that is similar. With Titan, his Dominant Hugo Kupka peaks through in the sound and the lyrics.

This and the Typhon boss theme surprised me the most since they sound completely different from the rest of the FF16 boss themes.

    • @tequilaselai
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

This was the best fight in the game imo lol and the music sold it hard. It’s funny, too, bc I can def pick out ATV Titan in it (from the Eden raids in 14) and the single vocals evoke Alexander but yeah it was just super hype. Glad you got to listen!

    • @Tuxedosnake00
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Crazy i just did this fight like a few hours ago and now i saw you made a video about it

    • @firagafury9712
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Funny how you compared it to Devil May Cry because FF16 is the closest the series has ever gotten to replicating a DMC game in terms of gameplay

    • @PhoenixDowned
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Titan lost/Do or Die or Catacecaumene are my favorite tracks. I know everyone hypes Ascension but I think the tracks I mentioned are way more interesting musically speaking. They’re both kind of used as a form of juxtaposition against their respective fights but go in completely different directions.

    • @BananaMellor
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The titan fight sequence was amazing. Really lives up to the name, just huge.

Edit: when watching the footage, it’s easy to forget that Ifrit is supposed to be like, 2 stories tall or something. The initial version of titan is already so much bigger than him and the Titan Lost form just launches the scales into space.

    • @Tabbycat2701
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Something XVI does that’s a pretty different approach from XIV is 100% tailor a lot of its songs to the gameplay experience. Several songs on the soundtrack are only used once to perfectly sync up to a single cutscene, and Soken created his own sound engine for the game to adjust stuff like the volume or speed of the music according to what the player is doing in the fight. They really put a lot of care into how the music would mesh with the player experience.

    • @wolfair
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

    nice!
hope people request more FFXVI songs soon. or you play the game on your own time.
this game has a lot of good tracks.

    • @TheSilverFred
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Oh yeah Titan was such an amazing fight!! If you do a list of Home/Main Hub themes or something like that: Hide, Hideaway from XVI is one of my favorite and sounds different from the rest of the ost since its not a boss fight 🙂

    More ff16 please!!

    • @mechamaya
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

The combat basically plays like a DMC game because it was designed by the same person who designed DMC5’s combat. Also these weren’t exactly cutscenes, it was also sort of gameplay, this game really blurs the lines between them during the eikon battles.

    • @zanzibar4730
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

A LOT of the criticism of FF16 came from the fact they moved away from the more traditional ‘RPG’ roots of the franchise and made it a character action game with a few RPG mechanics. Naturally a lot of people didn’t like it just for that reason. However I do think if you look at the game objectively, it’s absolutely fantastic and is my personal favourite game in the series. It has fantastic writing, incredible VA performances, extremely fun gameplay (and yes, the DMC combat designer was brought in to help design the battle system), and as you’ve heard, extremely good music!

The music in the game is quite dynamic with moving through sections and syncing up to various big attacks and moments, which you do lose on a purely audio experience (but that’s the nature of the whole channel!).There are definitely some other songs on the soundtrack that are out of line with what you’ve heard so far, even outside of the usual dark orchestral stuff and Primals stuff.

Hate to prove what you said at the start right with the split opinions, but I really do think it’s one of my favourite games of all time :’)

    • @ultradude15
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

I didn’t like this game nearly as much as a lot of people did (It is, in fact, my least favorite Final Fantasy game), but this fight is rad.

My emotions during this fight: “Ok, I guess we’re doing this. Decent fight. That certainly escalated. HELL YEAH THIS MUSIC ROCKS! (Heh, rocks…) Mucho spectacle. This is still going. This fight is way too long.”

    • @stormtempestech
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

This fight was insane, it’s about 6-7 phases and half an hour long, it’s way more intense than this kind of hack and slash gameplay usually puts you up against

    • @azuredeath
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

One of my favorite songs from FFXVI is Catacecaumene. It just comes out of nowhere when 16 sounds very choir and orchestra heavy.

    • @kaizerzero07
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

    This fight was insane.

    • @Tarrot
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

About the theme being compressed: In FF14, there are two Titan fights, one of which you’ve reacted to (Eden Titan/Heritor of Crags) and one I’m surprised you never reacted to (Under the Weight, the first one), and in both of them the lyrics of the fight were in a low raspy tone. Under the Weight was the 1st one back in 2014, Heritor of Crags was in 2020ish, and now Titan Lost is in 2025, carrying the torch from the previous Soken Titan songs with similar music style + lyrics.

    • @rezahydra
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

FF16 had many great moments, but this? This right here… this is my favorite… The fight, the over-the-top Asura’s Wrath-like Gameplay, and the MUSIC… it’s so good. Easily my favorite fight in the entire game. Some people call me crazy for saying this, but the game could’ve ended right after this and I would’ve had no complaints, and that’s because the story behind Titan is the most consistent “rival” character in the game. I’d overall say the game’s on par with FFX as my 5th favorite FF, because 10 does have a lot of flaws and issues as well, but both are SO good.

Not my favourite sequence of songs from 16 to be honest. It does stand out and reminds me a lot of the FF14 Titan tracks, but yeah I much prefer the scores of Away and Ascension.

    • @lanonyme-vod8090
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Square litterally took DMCV main gameplay director to work on XVI. Gameplay wise it’s very DMC-coded haha
The game is fantastic, to me at least
It tried new things while still making tons of references to older FFs (just like XIV)

XVI’s soundtrack is cool, has some variety, fits the game, though to me a lot of tracks sounded “cheap” I guess that’s how I’d describe it. Compared to the VIIR trilogy, lots of less important tracks arrangements sound almost midi-like
I did not bother that much but yeah

    • @RoyalCrustle
    • 2025年 1月 13日 11:26am

Titan is absolutely one of the standout fights of XVI. The scale is just INSANE, and I’m pretty sure it made PS5’s crash if people were playing in the High Graphics mode instead of the Performance mode. 😂

I’m not super familiar with FFXIV music, so hearing these songs in game really caught me off guard. Not that I disliked it, but I wasn’t used to this style. FFXVI has a lot of great moments imo, but I think I can say this fight was the first one that completely blew me away and changed my perspective on what fights in FF could be like in general. Of course the game also played incredibly different from previous games in the series, so that may be only natural.

The soundtrack, while I wouldn’t personally rank it at the top in the series, does it’s job very well I think. I do like it. It makes an already very cinematic game feel even more so. The game isn’t even that old, but I somehow already feel nostalgic when I think about it. The gameplay, story, and the music included.

One thing I’ll say is a lot of that footage is gameplay and cinematic mixed together. They blend together in amazing ways in this game. This is the most “FFXIV” I think this game gets in terms of music. And I think its the battle designer that came from DMC to FF16 and the game plays more like DMC than classic FFs.

I’ll put story spoilers for FF16 here to give you context of whats going on. In the game there are characters called “Dominants” that are able to transform into classic FF summons, like Titan. The player character is named Clive and he transforms into Ifrit, which you do during these big boss fights like youve seen with Bahamut and now Titan. So in this game other than Ifrit and a couple others you’re usually fighting the classic summons, not in control of them yourself.

This fight with the music blew me away when I first played this game, it was one of the best moments I’ve ever had in gaming, it’s truly peak.
