I think it’s important that we put ourselves into someone else’s shoes, that we imagine how it is to be someone else. It gives us a broader and more inclusive look at the world. Imagining how it is to be someone else is the basis for empathy and understanding others. The generation that played D2 is now the generation that makes these games that are sensitive and value having every different types of characters. But I fear this will lead to us only “designing” characters we like or want, and ignoring those types we might not necessarily play. Time will tell, but I still believe empathy to be a very, very important and necessary part of the human experience.

I am watching this presentation and it really looks much better presentation of a new game, compared to Valve recently announcing CS2. This is how new games should be presented in my opinoin: the creation process, the features, everything… directly from from mouths of people who created the game.

More customization than other Diablo? Maybe in character creation but at this day and age, their limited character creation option is just bad. Then when it comes to abilities; this can’t even compare to D2. For gear customization (item skin, transmog) D3 did better; which is sad.

“Play as you like” is always good. In theory.
In practice however, it never works. There is a reason there are builds in every single game.
No two skills are ever equal, so there is no way that you can be equally effective or even effective at all compared to an actual (even semi-decent) build, if the balance is actually bad.

This trailer is only true when you can be an elemental druid or a shape shifting druid, and both be balanced. Same with every other class, an ice sorc needs to be as viable as a fire or electrical one. But what I saw is that only one path/spec is truly viable for each class. The simplicity of the physical characteristic customization was cool though.

I wonder if as many people will play this “server slam beta,” as did the open/closed betas. I know my hype for the game has been curbed since they started unnecessarily nerfing classes based on incomplete information and demands by people who seem intent on killing the fun before it even starts. Feeling like I’m being pushed to play one class over another is exactly why I left the last game I sunk hundreds of hours into. Barbs are going to be so hilariously overpowered now compared to Necro/Sorcerer.

They should never have created that paragon system of nodes to begin with, what they should have done is leave the allocation of points free, whether they are for statistics such as strength, dexterity, int, endurance, or critical, prob or dmg, reg, among others and abilities both some for the general base skill, or for some specialization of the skill, if in passing they will add a good number of skills to the ones we have already seen, about 4 more times, and ways to modify each one of them, per base assigned point or because of its ramifications, balancing everything well and giving the possibility to choose with the same number of points that they give now, 4 per level, from 50 to 100 seems good to me, and then we would see great variability in character construction, and, Just with this system called Paragon, do you know what a crazy game that would become?

As a 90’s kid, whenever someone talks about turning into a Werebear, it conjures a very different image in my mind, modding community, do your best! XD

The skills always are limited to how much raw damage they can do. It is a big downfall when one ability hits for 400 and the other for a lot less. People will always choose meta builds as it is most efficient way to go trough the content. I wish they could create new system. However, every one is scared reinventing the wheel.

I’m a big fan of Diablo serie since 2001. And seeing Diablo 4 learning from another successful ARPGs to form a better or maybe the best one of this genre makes me happy. The rotating passive tree from Wolcen, the ability to insert gems onto the tree from PoE, and crafting system that feels like Grim Dawn… everything seems perfectly done. I can’t wait to play this masterpiece .

Unfortunately i dont have my way because no crusader/ paladin class. So no way .

ALL LIES….my way is ONE normal attack with no gear nor skill point, kills every enemy on the server, game ends. While look like Pikachu.

They talk about people choosing different skills in the tree when they literally have one of if not the most linear skill trees I have ever seen. It’s basically Diablo 3 with the tiniest bit of choice in the skill tree to make people feel like they are build crafting when really they are just choosing the predetermined build route for what ever class they have. Don’t know if that made sense but that is how it felt to me in the beta. Pluck 20 bleed damage barbs and they will all have the same skill tree. Traps rouge? Same tree. Minions necro? Same exact tree.

One mistake I made during the beta was that I though druid = summoner…

Barbarian Request:

Since Blizzard is really selling player choice and high customization, I really wanna play Barb with dual-wielding only. It annoyed me actually that certain skill animations are locked to a certain weapon type specifically the whirlwind only using your 2-handed.

A simple solution to this is a stricter implementation of the “unequiped” transmogrification of weapons. It’s there already but you lose it during skill animations. So this is just a pure transmog and wont be messing up Barb’s arsenal sysyem. Getting to see your chosen weapon type on more skill animations would be a lot better! I hope this is an easy enough tweak for the devs if they get to read this.

Beta was great, customization of characters looks was very lacking. I’m not sure what they’re talking about looking like any person across the world. You really don’t look that different from what was open in the beta, it’s really not that impressive. The rest of the game was great though.

I did not like the feel of most of the classes when playing the beta. Play a melee focused druid that used only storm based skills and no transformations felt the best to me but honestly The classes in the current state for me just aren’t great, I might wait until a Paladin class is available.

there actually not that many options in chars making part, at least not in beta, i mean compare to other games like nioh 2 or even elden ring, char creation in d4 beta wasn’t that impressive, besides this, everything else in this trailer are pretty cool tho

I mean we all know that’s the only reason respec cost so much gold 😂now that loot drop and gold rate is set for launch in the stress test beta how much you wanna bet it cost way way to much to respec! They will monetize this watch 😂
