The developer team seemed to have a hard time figuring out the balance between visual effect and visibility.

I just wondering you guys “content creators” how much money got from Blizzard to advertise them instead of Last Epoch… All content creators are unreliable because they sell themselves to companies.

I’m just glad to hear they’ve moved away from the gen/spender playstyle. I get trying force more than just 1 button playstyle but forcing you to spend 50% of your time just not doing damage wasn’t the way.

I think people tend to mix up the word “nerf” instead of “fixed”. If its broken, then it’s not being nerfed, it’s being fixed. If a class is powerful and a certain build brings them up to the power of other classes and then the devs weaken it, that’s a nerf. Nerfs mean unwarranted weakening of an ability for no reason.

Do the dust devils do relevant damage if the content is hard enough? In the game play footage shown, it seems like the mobs die to the initial whirlwind hits. Leaving the dust devils just obscuring vision and not doing anything.

Just a note about the Druid. It only needs spirit per second on gear for fights that take longer than 10 seconds. You can already build tornado and lightning storm without a generator in the live game season and eternal realm. Lightning Storm is great for farming, you can kill trash mobs and elites offscreen, but for long Uber boss fights I’m skeptical. That’s where spirit per second is really needed. Casting lighting storm roots you in place because it’s a channeled skill. Moving after casting is kind of clunky using force move inputs.
Tornado is a mid range skill that will likely put you in melee range when clearing trash because it moves from you to where ever it will be tracking (unless you preemptively cast it). It stacks on top of bosses and is a multi hit skill. It gets a multi cast temper affix too, I wish lightning storm got an interesting affix too but all it gets is duration increase. I don’t see how that’s gonna be of use unless it continues strikes after you stop channeling the skill.
Lightning looks and sounds so much cooler than tornado though
One thing I’m confused about is, is the lightning from the lightning storm skill considered a lightning “bolt”? The skill description never uses the word “bolt”.

I think it was stupid to remove the barbs dmg reduction. they already have a disadvantage as the only class that can only play melee. blizz always hates melee.

19:30 It might be suboptimal to take 2h weapons for Druid S4 endgame because you will be missing out on two temper rolls on your off hand. Depends on the build I guess. Early and mid game it’s fine because there is one less item to build up.

if hurricane and boulder gets “fixed” too much, Druid is going to be rather boring compared to the other classes in S4. This seems like quite the feat for the devs because Druid has the most diversity between attack types, shapeshifting, and companions,. Kind of seems like the Druid dev team is comprised of the people picked last for kickball.

Come may I can again push a button and it will register. Like dodge/dash. The engine D4 is running on is sooo much better than say POE’s engine. God knows how many times I tried to leap/dash in POE and it makes me unvilling dash into a mob pack and die. The engine comparison between the two are day and night. D4 may not have that much Endgame, but it sure has smoother gameplay.

I thought it would be cool to make the dust devil have an aspect like: You can have x amount of dust devils, when other players are near they harness the power of you dust devil and spawn x amount of dust devils off of themselves counting toward their damage output.
It would make for a cool way to break up the screen effects and involve group play.
I thought of a few different aspects that could work harmoniously for group play working like that.

For druid, where is the companion ult? We have grizzly rage, lacerate, caraclysm and petrify. Remove one of the them, remove petrify for example and put in a companion ult that makes you spawn alot of companions that are enhanced or something

Great news for summoner Necros – you get to do the damage yourself with blight and corpse explosion now… That’s *not* a summoner build, a summoner build would be like D2 where the SUMMONS are the primary damage output. the SKELETONS AND GOLEM should be outputting damage, *not* the player character. It’s not like the 20% damage bonus for minions on blight was amplified – you just deal *more* blight damage. If Blizzard got their shit together then Necros would have 20+ skeletons and 20+ mages like in D2 that do the fighting for you, with the Necro themselves dropping support spells.

My tri-pet trampleslide with hurricane was insane. Spamming creeper when enough crit/lucky hit on a boss, melting it.Spamming creeper and landslide with the new ring. Screen full of tornados and lg storms proccing more enemies procing aoe lightning. All resetting pet cds and hurricane. Insane with life on hit. I dont think the new ring will cut it though compared to a 2h. Unless the ring lets ur procced landslides do the extra aoe ( for more storm procs and skill cd resets, and life per hit)

100% they are gonna fix the tempering affix’s and all affix’s for that matter that have a chance for something and it’ll be an independent thing so no matter one you’ll only double cast once so if you stack chance to freeze or chance to stun or chance to shoot twice and you have multiple of it the % chance will just stack instead of each piece of gear being independent of each other

Druid kind of feels bad man. All the other classes get broken builds featuring unique, new unique and we get Uniques that fall short of expectation and Druids top build is going to be basically another shepherds aspect base is season three

Yawn, these devs have no creativity. They copied Last Epochs crafting, they put rifts (10 year old feature) in, they made dust devils a top tier build (hi D3 from 10 years ago).

In general they realize their game sucks so they just made every class overpowered and the power creep is already nearing where D3 at the end of its life cycle.

I have just one question: Attributes like crit, cooldown and luckhit are still exclusive to only SOME pieces? Or any piece can roll those now?

Necromancer Build: It has a bug that will definitely get fixed but here’s the Blight Build.
Druid Build: The ‘highest damage’ Druid build is bugged, and were not gonna show it. Here’s the same build from the past three seasons. But you have a dot/pets.

It’s funny to me that Blizzard appears to have opened up the fun factor by allowing character power to skyrocket. They did everything in their power to crush fun looking builds like this in the early going. While I’m glad to see the changes, the skeptical part of me says they’re only doing it to hook you into an expansion purchase. I bought three D4 ultimate editions for my family. Played both PTRs. Intended to play this game for years. But none of us even have it installed anymore. D4 was the game that completely broke my trust in Blizzard as a company.

I started a stormhowler druid….it is a werewolf, lightning/thunder damage with the poison creeper

Seeing the twisters makes me just not want to bother. Every group activity is just going to be spammed out. Imagine even just 3 players doing this. This spam all from a mele barbarian. It’s just a stupid look for a combat class like that especially.

Werewolf tornado build with pets was best build for s2 for druids. So same old same old. Id be more interested in seeing shred updated or maybe bear/wolf hybrid they keep pushing on us with items and aspects.

I love Druid. I am so angry that Druid is the only class that remained mediocre during the PTR. Soo many missed opportunities where they could have improved something. Barbs DD, Rogue Trap, Sorc Orbs, Necro Minions, Druid?? Exactly. The earth breaker is lack luster and the wildheart boots would be good but in order to do pit level 50 damage every druid build has to run shepards aspect.

What’re your thoughts about the Elemental Surge temper? Seems to go against the devs statement of having flat damage now scaling with the character.

After this PTR, the worst thing Blizzard can do is nerf everything to the ground for the sake of “balance”. The game needs FUN, not balance. Season 3 was a snoozefest.

I reckon rogue is in a weird place. Blizzard released D4 and rogue was super powerful, they nerfed rogue a couple times, and then just left it pretty much alone. It’s kinda fallen off the radar.

Was hoping grenades and stealth builds would be shining in PTR, but they were pretty widely meh’d. That said, everything was pretty much overshadowed by barb and necro screen clears lol

Is the druid tornado build just a poor version of the Barb dust devil build ?

Most if not all these builds are heavily based on bugs and should be fixed before season 4

I never got my helm or it would have been awesome but I ran a standard bone spear build like S3 but dropped the Golem, used Warriors for tanks and dropped bloodmist for mage upgrades to my bone mages. Never ran out of mana and by last night about every other time I cast bone spear all my mages were as well. If I had also had the boneweaver helm it would have been insane. Still with only 1 unique, I complained about he drop rate and will do blizzard as well, I was having no issue with level 130 level mobs. Going to try that at the start of the season! I also ran the Scorc but never got the neckleace… the drop rate was bad almost 40 hours over the week with 3 unique drops during the entire time with only 1 usable.

Look at the barb and sorc bit and then look at the rogue and druid bit. I mean this game is not easy to balance but the gap is just too big.

I mained druid for the first two seasons. Farming a tempest roar is not fun at all. When you do get it, its bad ass, but man that grind is just torture. By the time you get one you will likely have all the other bis gear for it.

I mained a barb for the short amount of time I played season 3, so I was thinking necro, but I may go Barb again if whirlwind is going to be strong. Also IF the game is finally alt friendly, I may make a necro alt.

Hopefully we get the patch notes soon.

for the most DR i could think of during ptr: tyreal’s might gives 10, might aspect gives 20 but have to keep that up with a basic move every 6 sec, tib will pants still have close enemy DR as well, and shako has the 20. so if you’re absolutely needing DR there’s some good options and tbh i feel like every char would use atleast 2 of these. my rogue will be using all 4 now since DR can’t be rolled, atm only using 2 (using jugg over might). that’s 70 MINIMUM for DR and will go up cuz of masterwork.

Yikes, half these builds will get nerfed hard and the other half are dependent on ultra rare drops.

Druid build is bad, the moment you change form you die if you are not extra carefull.

They need to add some opacity to the barbarian twisters, looks rediculous

Have they added an aggro mechanic for the minions yet…Instead of everything going straight for the necro. Seems like something that should be there.

It’s so f-ing stupid what they did. It’s basically D3 now. Nothing is going to be a challenge and it’s going to get very boring very fast.

Dust Devil Barb and Minion Necro were the strongest things I tried but I think I am going to go with the Barb. It was more fun than Minions to me and also I haven’t really played a Barb to end game in previous seasons. I didn’t even get the build to full strength (and probably didn’t have the best glyphs and paragon because I just winged it) but it still felt really strong.

Rogue has sucked for so long that they need to just 10-20x some skills like they did with Charge for Barbs

Nice list and fun to see what CAN be great builds depending on the nerf hammer! BUT to be fair I really hope they dont nerf the Druid in any sort of way… Because EVERY other class has had at least one broken ass build at least ones! Some more then others…*Barb* ;))(Remember: HOTA, BoneSpear, Balllightning, Twisting Blades)…And yes I have been playing them all …and fun as hell. But would be fun to find at least ONE for druid before we balancing out everything the will come in time. (And NO I dont think Shred was broken since it was a really high skill build to make work). So I hope you are wrong and at least something slips through the cracks that are really really good. But great work as always and nice video!

For Summoned Iceblades, you get 20% of Enhanced Iceblade’s cooldown. That’s 0.2 × 0.5 = 0.1 seconds per hit. Which used to be mediocre, but if you have 5 Iceblades on screen, it could be quite strong.

Why in the hell is there still a werewolf tornado spam build!? I want my wind mage/druid/ fujin.. If I want to rip things apart Id play as a werewolf.

Alot of things are better but…I still feel to many items are dropping, I should atleast be able to play for an hour before going to town. So many thing happening on the screen you can’t even see you character anymore, some builds are just ridiculous. Not many meaninful fun fights that you remember, still game feels like a chore more than a real game. Zoom out i still not enough, should atleast be 3 levels of zooming. Too many things on ground to pick up, very annoying and iterupts the game flow. You are forced into group play beacuse its extremly unrewarding playing solo, the Groups vs Solo is insanly inbalanced. Items with Greater affixes are not highlighted in inventory, which is super annoying.

why nerf twisters and not instead just make them transparent? wtf

D4 invented this complicated “arsenal” mechanic for barbs so players could combine different offensive skills with different weapons only to be downgraded to this brainded “spin to win” or “click hammer to win” builds with 5 support skills.
What a waste…

Out of all, the Rogue seems the most underwhelming. High single DPS target but so-so crowd control. Others do BOTH!

The top 4 of them should be play a better game.
The 5th one should be stop hyping the next season so Blizzard actually sees a loss in returning player retention and actually puts some effort into making D4 a better game.

If they did their job, there is no “top build” for each class. Just personal preference.

What they can do for Dust Devils is to make them to spawn less, but also make each of them do more damage to compensate. And they can also make them appear transparent to optimize for FPS.

I’d rather see a top 2 builds for each spec

the druid build didnt feel good probably because you didnt have a lot of lucky hit, but i love to see another way to make the spirit in druid feel better!

Man the frozen orb build is so fun, was so fun to play on ptr, but having it revolve around a unique necklace is what really bothers me, i feel like it’s gonna be a struggle to start the season with this build

Shadow summon necro build was SO Much Fun.

D3 Zerk was so fun, I liked the gear sets and maybe we’ll see that again, and craft that low end xp gear

I don’t even see his twisters doing damage, when everything is being destroyed by the Whirlwind, though I am sure that will change on higher difficulties.
