Being a slightly above average player is the worse situation to be in because with mmr you’re too good for the bad players, and not good enough to hang with the daily grinders.

It’s a hot take alright, a steaming pile of a take that shows you have non idea what constitutes a competitive environment.

To fix the plats and diamonds belongs mg in silver and gold issue it’s extremely simple- a flat 50 rp entry cost at all levels of play.

Lower entry cost at lower ranks does ONE thing. It funnels players up for absolutely no reason by virtue of grinding. In every game half of the players should lose RP and the other half should gain, outside of certain extreme circumstances (like hiding until you are top 5 and not getting a kill, you’d prob even out at 0 there)

The ranked ladder is designed to FUNNEL UP players who GRIND ranked. That’s the issue. And so nobody is landing in the bracket they belong.

Putting predators and masters in play or even diamond games makes 0 sense to fix that issue and will not magically result in players landing in the correct bracket, it will just destroy the little integrity of the ranked matches that DOES exist and allow masters and preds to stay above where they should be when they otherwise might’ve fallen and let them beat up weak players they have zero business fighting.

The ranked system should properly punish and derank players of ALL skill tiers evenly. If you are GOLD and keep dying early on your GOLD lobby’s, against GOLD players, the entry cost needs to be enough to smack you back down to silver for failing to average at least top 10 with 1 kill per game. Top 10 with a kill should net somebody 0 rp change at all ranks, anything worse should hit you hard and knock you out fast. THAT will put all players where they belong.

It makes 0 sense that bronze silver and gold and even plat to an extent are so generous with entry cost. It’s nearly impossible not to land in at least plat for 99% of players because there is no punishment for doing poorly regularly. The early ranks are literally cosmetic grinding sessions because of this. Yes some people will feel bad for being hardstuck silver and gold- but it’s where they belong, and it would massively improve the game for literally everyone at all skill levels and finally let people fight (mostly) the correct enemies.

They need to rework the masters rank. There’s really no incentive to keep playing once you hit masters. When you get to masters, they just throw you in diamond/plat lobbies. It’s hard to fill a lobby of masters/preds. And I think a big reason for that is b/c a lot of ppl just stop playing after getting masters. If you’re not grinding to get to pred, then there’s really no reason to keep playing, especially considering most of the pred slots are taken up by pros and 3 stacks. So most ppl who solo q to masters like me, either quit the game until the new season (which is what I do), go Smurf, or go play pubs. I imagine that’s why it’s hard for masters and preds to fill up their own lobbies.

Leave in just kills x placement as the way to get points. 20% of the player base shouldn’t be in what is effectively the top ranks, being diamond and above. Most players should be in gold, but they ain’t. I shouldn’t be in diamond games where I get people who can’t point and click a mouse or hover people with sticks. I don’t mind getting a ton of RP for free rolling into masters, but it could be cool to have the games be much more consistent in quality.

I understand queue times but 611,052 players have played ranked this season with 3.6% in master so around 22,000 in master plus your 750 preds. Queue times won’t be that bad people just need to get some patience. However I do agree that gibby who can’t slide jump should not be in diamond, the issue seems to be people are in diamond who shouldn’t be therefore players who should be hardstuck diamond and gaining points getting KP from them. Make Plat cost a bigger entry fee and attempt to keep plat player in plat.

As a diamond I don’t mind the master/pred players. But, I do think if you get killed by someone a higher rank than you in the current split you should get some RP forgiveness like half the match cost. Like how if you kill someone a higher rank you get more rp for challenger bonus. (This only applies if you are in the negative rp and die by someone higher)

Everytime i solo queue, I can solo queue 10 games. and out of my 20 teammates in those games, maybe 2-3 belong in actual diamond 4/3. the other 18 are people with season 17 masters badges, dead with 71 damage. its honestly gross.

There are so few preds and pros playing the game that you’ll probably only have one or two super good squads in your match anyway.

I been in the lobbies but i can only down one opposing enemy because it turns from a 1v1 to a 1v3 because i get a plat 4 who is learning how to use their character and his D4 buddy who carried him who just be going down or splitting up when there are clearly enemies around 😂 the matchmaking is so unfair for soloq people

The amount of people with season 17 rat masters badges on that are currently hard stuck D4 or D3 is a prime example of this. It’s almost 10 seasons later and that person is as bad as they were 10 seasons ago when they ratted for a badge. They need to just start basing rank off games played. If you play more than 2000 ranked games in a season and never get out of Diamond 4 you should just be automatically relegated to plat or gold games. You’re literally achieving by just participating.

The 1st ranked match I played(me being rookie at the time), I reached absolute last zone, got good position with my random team, AND there were still 6 other teams hiding doing poke damage here and there. It was hell. At the end I got 4th place and the team that killed me was previous masters 3 stack.

As a D3 player I totally agree, I should be in a plat lobby. I definitely don’t feel I have the skills, aim or aggressiveness, to be a diamond. Granted I solo Q 100% but my KD is not up to par with even plat players.

simple reason is all players will get to gold because no cost till gold really and then it makes getting plat easier.

They messed up how the rankings work in season 11, they used to reward players for getting in fights but now they reward players for sitting in corners and not moving until the circle makes them.

So you should basically have 2 different lobbies? Why should a plat that got to plat by waiting for end circles who plays twice a week be put in a game with a pred who plays the game for 8 hours every day. There should be a 1 rank difference max between each lobby, bronze and low silver, high silver and low gold, high gold and low plat, etc. a plat playing against a pred won’t make him get any better because of how big the skill gap is, and for a pred, playing a plat is almost the same as playing against bots, I don’t agree with this one.

Ranked should be one server with crossplay enabled on all platforms put players in the correct ranked lobby preds in with preds diamond with diamonds bronze with bronze across all platforms they will have enough to fill the spaces if they have ranked all together as one

The problem is, that they can’t adjust the ranked system accordingly so that gold and silver actually mean something, because we’re 6 years in and nobody would ever flex a gold badge even if getting it would

I’ve been put in masters and pred games as a diamond player so I thought this was normal

The skill difference between plat players(&maybe lower diamond)is very frustrating. Because I’d rather get stomped by Preds and Masters than lose easy fights where I knock 2 & do 400+ damage but still loses because my teammates are just not in my or the other team’s skill level. So now I have to avoid fights against guys I can win 1vs1 and possibly 1vs2 because I can’t trust my teammates. And the game becomes unboxing simulator and I get like +5 points off of shooting a few guys across the map. That’s the most frustrating thing about solo queue. 95% of the times you either carry or get carried. And it sucks either way. It’s only 5% of times that I actually have fun.

Last time i played ranked was season 14. Made it to diamond and never been able to get a game without at least a few preds since.

I just want the game to promote good players more. Currently, as a diamond player who crawled his way out of Plat, Im terribly disheartened when the game is running like 15 min, I got about 5 KP, and because most people already camp houses in zones theres still 8 squads left, making me still in the negative RP for the match. Rn, ranked promotes very passive gameplay. Taking high placements is way better than making to mid placements with decent or even good KP. Im legit often better off doing nothing for 15 minutes in zone and die like 3rd place than to fight early, search for fights all game then be forced to walk into camper enemy fire when the zone fails to move where I predicted around ring 3. The MMR thing is also annoying, but beating a dead horse is redundant by now.

You know the system is cooked when the average rank is D3, that’s direct evidence of a poor rank system. The Average rank should be somewhere around Gold 3. I do wish rank was also determined on individual skill not just who can be carried to a certain rank.

When you’re a play, you’re either playing with broke/silver/gold or masters/preds, no in between. Plats should play with plats. Bronze should play AT MOST with silvers. Not gold. Silver. Diamond/masters together and then preds at the top, and then ALGS above that obviously. But I’m around high gold, low plat, and constantly get silver teammates or get put up against a sweaty masters 3 stack in ranked. Like dawg, I miss the days of BO2 when you actually got put up against your ranked. Honestly haven’t seen a ranked system as balanced as that since BO2 lmao

There’s no point in having a rank if you’re not facing people of that same rank.

The solution is relatively simple.
1. Increase RP loss in lower ranks to be more in line with Pred and Masters.
2. Decrease the spread of ranked players to something like 6 tiers. Ex: Plat 4 to Diamond 3. Except for extreme low or extreme high ranks.
3. Decrease RP gain for placement without kills.
4. Scale RP gain for teams skill level relative to the lobby rewarding over/under performance.

Pred/Masters/High Diamond players should expect longer queue times like any other serious competitive game. This overhaul would make each rank actually mean something.

This will never happen though. The reality is that a 60 Player BR is much more difficult to balance than a team based game. Finding 60 similar ranked players is harder than 10. Either players should either wait longer for matches with better rank distribution or just suck it up. Skilled players might need to aggregate to popular servers to find matches more quickly.

Mechanics (Aim+Movement) and Game Sense is what distinguishes each rank from another and unfortunately I noticed that these differ quite drastically from rank to rank.

I know Apex is a team based game but 1v1 pred, masters and diamonds for fun and win quite consistently. So you might have Master mechanics but only Plat game sense and not get too far and I feel like the inverse can also happen.

Some Masters have the mechanics of plat players and some diamonds you can tell they could be masters if they played often.

Which is my scenario in case bc my highest rank was D2 solo queueing a good 70% of the time.

I think hes taking an interesting take on this as ranked Usually *** does throw you with some master preds from D2-D1 its been that way since S13 or S12. Only difference is they didnt show the ranks of every player in the game but in S12-13 you can die as a D2-1 player and be spactating a master/ pred that killed you.

Theres to many aspects tho, id say just make it as every other game and fight in the ranks that you are, plats fight plats and the best plats exceed into diamond, diamonds fight diamonds and the best exceed into masters.
